This bulletin reproduces each of the individual color separations that form the composite on the cover. The portrait was originally conceived as one of a set of five (along with Björn Borg, Bob Dylan, Boy George, and Ahmad Shah Massoud) collectively titled Faces of the 1980s, produced in 1983 by Charlotte & Sture Johannesson of The Digital Theatre in Malmö. The Johannessons worked out the separations, then output the black master for each color “blind” on an early low-resolution IBM plotter. As Sture explains: “All the colours were from the beginning black. The master then decided and created colors.”
